Martin is an industry expert with 20+ years of experience in senior positions in Germany, UK, Benelux, Asia and Australia. After being part of the management team building Fitness First in Germany from 7 to 85+ clubs while heading marketing and fitness product across Europe he moved to the UK in 2006. He supported the restructure of the 170+ clubs organisation as COO moving into global roles thereafter in various operational focussed functions. After some ownership and strategic changes he successfully managed the repositioning of Fitness First in the UK (2013-2017) and Germany (2017-now) by investing in people, simplifying processes, modernising the fitness product (with group fitness in the studios and on the gym floor an integral part creating the community factor) and renovating the clubs. These strategic moves lifted the companies to new levels under his leadership enabling further growth. Over the last four years he and his team built a multi-brand organisation by acquiring various best in class gym chains & the rights to leading boutique fitness brands. Together with his team they successfully led LifeFit Group through the Corona crisis rebuilding revenues fast and increasing the LifeFit Group's portfolio from 55 to 200+ facilities through M&A. In summer 24 he led the sale of the group from Oaktree Capital Management to Waterland Private Equity Investments. Martin is also a Les Mills Internstional board member supporting the Accelerating Club Strategy.
